Day Skipper Practical Course - Sep 03

Close view of The needles. This was just before we went over The Bridge - a rather rough piece of water to say the least. I imagine it was a bit like Ellen Macarthur's Southern Ocean crossing except it only lasted about 5 minutes and if truth be told the swell was er...perhaps a little less! Shame we have no pictures but everyone was too busy hanging on for dear life!

Dad on Galley Slave duty. To be fair, he did virtually all of the washing up which was perhaps a little unfair with retrospect. However, I did most of the cooking so perhaps that evens it up (yes I know we eat out nearly every night and the only 2 meals I actually 'cooked' were mums reheated chilli and Chicken curry out of some tins)

Rained a bit this day!

Our tutor Chris

Whilst Chris had us searching up and down for a very small spot he's marked on the chart in the position he wanted us to anchor, the QE2 whizzed past so we grabbed a shot (one of the Red Jet ferries in the foreground)

Bit more rain. This was taken just as we were heading into the Hamble for a trip up to Moody's. Moody's was very posh - the showers were amazing! I'd love to keep the boat there. Shame they're full (and then there's the money)

At the end of the course, we took the opportunity to get Magler's Cruising Chute flying for the first time - Nick took this picture looking up the mast.
