Starting to look a bit better
Here I have some pictures of some of the things we have done. Notice it still looks like a shed inside cos I can't put anything in the lockers in case it upsets the readings when they are testing the hull
This is the new Teak and Holly flooring I had made at K.J.Howells (highly recommended - speak to Rob). This was after much time and effort on Nick's part and so the reason it looks so good and fits so well is all down to him.
You can see on this shot that we had some of the edges lipped in 5mm teak which looks fantastic
Not a great picture but shows the floor in situ
This is the boat drying out. The gelcoat has been removed below the waterline and it's back to the chopped strand mat outer layer of fibreglass. This is the part affected by the osmosis
This is me (dressed to kill!) removing the old sea toilet (not that old actually). Nice waste pipe eh? Just remember that the pipe to outside the boat that I had to remove cos we were changing it was over 5 meters long and it was full!! Yuck!! Also remember for the future that everything you stick down that bog has to go through that tiny pipe so go easy on the paper eh?
Oh yeah - notice one of the new halogen cabin lights on the
left
Ah - that's better - nice shiney new lav and a decent size to
park one's bum on - thanks Chrissie!!
A picture of the galley area to show off the expertly installed twin 13amp socket as part of the new Shore power installation.
This is the chart table that we have veneered. Previously, this had been chopped around and was a yucky tan formica. We've put fiddles all round it since this picture was taken.
Ah - the stereo. This is a 4x35 Pioneer head unit with a 12x CD changer. It's all removeable (even the changer) so we can take it home so it don't get nicked when were away.
Here I am with Magler in the marina....isn't Dover a great place to have a boat??...palm trees and all that. Actually the boat is a Beneteau 40 something and it's Jolly Harbour in Antigua. It is me though - this year on holiday - had you fooled eh? No I didn't think so.
As anyone knows who has a boat, shipwrighting can be a tough job. That's why it's imperative you bring someone capable of more than making a ham sandwich along to provide refreshments. Here is a typical Sunday in Dover shipyard when I bring my mum along.
I kid you not.
